Sheryl Luzzadder-Beach (PhD Minnesota) is Raymond Dickson Centennial Professor in Geography and the Environment at the University of Texas-Austin, where she is Founding Co-Director of the Beach/Butzer Geoarchaeology Labs. She is Associate Faculty of the Theresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, and Past President of the American Association of Geographers. Dr. Luzzadder-Beach, and her co-authors, were awarded the 2010 AAG G.K. Gilbert Outstanding Research Award in Geomorphology and the 2020 AAG Ellen Mosley Thompson Award in Paleoenvironmental Change, and she was recognized as CSU Chico’s 2018 Distinguished Alumna, College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She is a 2020 Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a 2022 Fellow of the American Association of Geographers. She specializes in physical geography, hydrology, geomorphology, water chemistry, geoarchaeology, geostatistics, and science and human rights, with field research in Mesoamerica, South America, California, the Mediterranean and Near East, and Iceland.
